I read lots about beekeeping and became interested in a new type of hive designed by Robin Dartington - The Dartington Long Deep Hive. This new type of hive seemed to have many advantages compared with the more traditional type of hive which had not changed since the British Standard 'National' hive was designed nearly 80 years ago. We now know much more about bee biology and behaviour - and Robin has designed a hive that is better for the bees and much easier to manage.
