Queen excluders added to the two sides. The gaps between the wires are just big enough to allow bees to squeeze through but the Queen ("does my bum look big in this") cannot fit through. The following day - after speaking with my mentor, Bob, I moved the artificial swarm to my second hive. I had been waiting for another colony for that hive but as these bees seemed to be so good it was better to fill both with the progeny.
